Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Trust has worked in partnership with The Anne Robson Trust since November 2021. The Butterfly Volunteers offer time, compassion, and a calm presence to people in their final days of life, supporting not only patients but also those close to them.

Meet The Coordinator

Lauren Handley - Butterfly Volunteers' Coordinator

My name is Lauren Handley and I am the Butterfly Volunteers’ Coordinator at Milton Keynes University Hospital. Since August 2023, our team of trained volunteers has been offering emotional support and companionship to dying patients and their loved ones.

One of my favourite things about this role is being part of such a meaningful and compassionate service that supports my local community during one of life’s most difficult times.

What matters most to me is ensuring that every patient has the chance to die with dignity, respect, and kindness – surrounded by care, not alone.
