East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust

East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust has worked in partnership with The Anne Robson Trust since 2024. Led by Coordinator Pam, the Butterfly Volunteers offer time, compassion, and a calm presence to people in their final days of life, supporting not only patients but also those close to them.

Meet The Coordinator
Pam Talman, Amy Hilling, Debbie Farthing - Butterfly Service Coordinator'sThe Butterfly teams are based at both Colchester and Ipswich hospitals. The service coordinators are Pam Talman and Amy Hilling, who job share at Ipswich and Debbie Farthing at Colchester.
We are all passionate about the service, and we have the most kind and caring volunteers. We feel very privileged to work with such wonderful volunteers, who enable us to support families, friends, and carers at a time when compassion, kindness, and time are needed most. Time is something we can give to all our patients and their families, carers and friends. We only have one chance to get the care at the end of life right, and we want to ensure it is the best it can be.
As a team we have 55 years of service working within the trust, but in our current roles, Pam has been a coordinator for 5 years, Debbie 4 years and Amy 1 1/2 years. We all share the passion to deliver excellent end of life care.
