Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust has worked in partnership with The Anne Robson Trust since 2024. Led by Coordinator Helen, the Butterfly Volunteers offer time, compassion, and a calm presence to people in their final days of life, supporting not only patients but also those close to them.

Meet The Coordinator
Helen Goold - Butterfly Volunteer CoordinatorThe Community Butterfly Service is a very special, humbling resource where individuals who are lonely and isolated are greeted once a week by a volunteer who is compassionate, has time to listen, is kind, and often raises a smile to those in need. For me, as a coordinator I enjoy the immense pride in a service which is making a difference to individuals at home. It is like a ray of sunshine each time I get to witness the benefit and the human touch that volunteers give.
What matters to me is that an individual can express their thoughts and feelings without judgement, that the end of life is valued as much as living a life. It is a certain we will all come to the end-of-life, together let’s make the experience as comfortable, person centered and as dignified as possible.
