And the winner is …
We were very excited when, back in July, we heard that Peter Harrison from Norwich had nominated us in the Best Health Charity category for The Sun’s Who Cares Wins Awards. The Butterfly Volunteers, managed by Caroline Stevens, had supported him and his wife Christine, as she sadly died in the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
We were thrilled to hear that we’d been shortlisted and excitingly that all our team, including Caroline, Peter and his son Mark had tickets to attend the awards ceremony in September. It was even more humbling once we heard that the other two charities nominated were the amazing Love, Amelia and More Than a Face.
Fast-forward two months and we attended the black-tie awards ceremony on the 19th of September, with a star-studded guestlist! Liz and Caroline started the afternoon with hair and makeup and strolling down the red carpet. The rest of the team, joined by Mark and Peter Harrison, met them by the canapes …
We had some great conversations, sharing what we do with some big names and took lots of great photos too! Some of the highlights are pictured below. Spot the Strictly dancers, James Cordon, Mylene Klass, Gary Lineker and two of the judges Anthony Joshua and Christine Lampard. We had great chats with Rob Rinder, Dr Ranj Singh and Kate Garroway. We rubbed elbows with the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, Piers Morgan, Michelle Visage, Katherine Ryan, Vernon Kay and Trevor McDonald to name but a few. Overall it was an amazing, surreal night and we feel so privileged to have been nominated and invited.
Unfortunately, we took the Silver as Love, Amelia won the Best Health Charity Award. But we couldn’t have lost to a better charity, the support they provide so that no child goes without is inspiring. It was lovely to have been able to have met the founders of both charities and we look forward to seeing more of their wonderful work in the future!
