15 years on, remembering Anne Robson

Today marks 15 years since my mother, Anne Robson sadly died after a week’s stay in hospital following a fall. It’s hard to belive how quickly time has passed, by every day without her reminds me of the incredible impact she had on our lives.

Anne was a quiet and kind soul, who managed to find a place in the world after the heartache of losing my father, Maurice, in 1989. Though the loss of her husband was deeply painful, Anne’s quiet strength allowed her to rebuild her life.

When she died, I felt driven to do something to honour her memory. That dream became the Anne Robson Trust, a charity I founded with the simple goal of aiming to ensure that no one has to face the end of their life alone. What began as a small initiative has grown into something far beyond anything I could have imagined, helping thousands of people through their final days with dignity, companionship, and care.

I’m deeply proud of what we’ve achieved, but more than that, I’m grateful for the community we’ve built, our dedicated passionate team, the amazing end of life volunteers, healthcare professionals, and donors who help us achieve our mission. Mums’ kindness and humility continue to guide the work we do, and I know she would be proud of the difference we’re making together.

Today, as I remember Mum, I think of her quiet strength, the love she showed, and the life she built for herself after loss. I’m proud that the charity we’ve created in her name not only helps those at the end of their lives, but also gives families a sense of peace, knowing their loved ones are surrounded by compassion and care in their final days and hours.

I am profoundly grateful for the legacy Mum unknowingly left behind, and with unwavering determination, I will continue to carry that forward, so that no one needs to face the end of their life alone.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the Anne Robson Trust. Together, we are continuing to make a difference, one small act of kindness at a time.

With love and gratitude,
Liz Pryor, MBE
