10,000 visits by ‘end of life’ volunteers!
As volunteer visits reach an incredible milestone, CEO and Founder, Liz Pryor says what this means to the Trust:
“I’m rather overwhelmed. Considering the challenges faced by hospitals over the last two years, with volunteers being stood down left, right and centre…. These amazing people have made over 10,000 visits to the bedside of dying patients in our partner hospitals.
When I first started out on this journey in 2016, working at East & North Herts NHS Trust, I really worried about whether we’d be able to find anyone to take on the role.
We always talk about the fact that it is such a huge ask to visit someone who is dying, to sit with someone you’ve probably never met before, in their final hours. And yet whenever a hospital we are working with puts out a call for volunteers – they are inundated with people coming forward. It’s truly humbling.
I am hugely proud that we have initiated these visits via the Anne Robson Trust. What an amazing legacy for my mother. I hope, wherever she is, she’s as proud as I am!
I’m sure you’ll join me in saying a massive thank you to all of them!”
