No One Deserves to Die Alone at Christmas

This Christmas, your donation could help bring companionship, comfort and support to someone who is dying. It could also help us support their family and friends, to understand what is happening and offer guidance through this difficult time.

No One Deserves to Die Alone at Christmas

This Christmas, your donation could help bring companionship, comfort and support to someone who is dying. It could also help us support their family and friends, to understand what is happening and offer guidance through this difficult time.

Far too many people spend the end of their life in isolation.

Thousands of people die each year without the comfort of a single visitor.

Not because they aren’t loved, but because families can’t always be there and staff can’t be everywhere at once.

How your donation helps

  • £10 could pay for a bedside visit to someone dying in hospital.

  • £20 could help train healthcare volunteers to comfort someone in their final days.

  • £100 could help 10 people receive company and support at the end of life.

What we do

We partner with hospitals, hospices and community trusts across the UK, helping them establish and build teams of specially trained volunteers who sit with people who are dying.

We also support families and friends, helping them better understand death and dying so they feel less overwhelmed, less afraid, and less alone.

Death is universal to life. But dying alone shouldn’t be.

This Christmas, Dr Hilary Jones and Dr Emeka Okorocha are helping us raise awareness of a truth many people aren’t aware of - that far too many people die in isolation, without anyone by their side. Please join them and donate, so more people can receive the care and comfort they deserve at the end.

“The Butterfly Volunteer team went above and beyond in caring for my Dad. From a perfectly timed cup of tea to a beautiful handmade blanket for Dad’s room. Their daily visits gave us much needed respite, and their kindness and care made such a difference, with gentle conversations about cherished memories during a very difficult time. Their compassion and dedication meant the world to us”
