Thank you to the Skipton Charitable Foundation

Here’s how their donation of Android tablets for use by hospital volunteers is transforming visits to patients …

We’re thankful to the Skipton Charitable Foundation for generously funding some Android tablets for use by the hospital volunteers on their visits to patients facing the end of life. The tablets have transformed visits for many dying patients already, and here are just a few examples of their impact so far:

· They’ve allowed volunteers to facilitate video calls with relatives who can’t make the journey to the hospital.

· They’ve enabled a young patient and football fan to watch match highlights and see the scores for his favourite team.

· Volunteers were able to play songs by Antonio Vivaldi, for a patient who was a lover of classical music.

· For one patient who loved to walk, volunteers used a tablet to show them pictures of the Cornish countryside.

We are so grateful to our supporters for improving volunteer hospital visits to dying patients through their contributions, and to hospital volunteers like Alice for providing meaningful and compassionate companionship to the patients.
