Our first Community Hub

On Wednesday 9th November we held a launch event for our new Community Hub. It took place in Springfield House Community Centre, where the hub will be every Wednesday afternoon starting on the 16th November from 2pm – 4pm.

We were honoured to welcome some esteemed guests including Sally Burton (DL, High Sheriff of Hertfordshire), Annie Brewster (Chair of Hertfordshire County Council), and both the Mayor and Mayoress of Stevenage – Margaret Notley and Cathy Bibby, along with colleagues from organisations including Stevenage Borough Council, POWhER, HertsHelp, Stevenage Vineyard, Memoria, Isabel Hospice, Austin’s Funeral Directors, Carers in Herts and Barclays. The Hub will be a safe space for anyone who needs support with anything to do with the ‘end of life’.

We can help if you:

  • Have received a terminal diagnosis and want to talk to someone who understands
  • Are caring for someone with a life limiting illness
  • Want some help getting your ‘end of life’ paperwork in order

Visitors can receive support on a one-to-one basis, or as part of a group. We will signpost people to other services in the community if needed. The sessions will create a peer support network, for people to share experiences in what can be a lonely and isolating situation.
