Worcestershire Acute NHS Trust

Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust has worked in partnership with The Anne Robson Trust since 2024. The Peony Volunteers offer time, compassion, and a calm presence to people in their final days of life, supporting not only patients but also those close to them

Meet Your Coordinator
Rachel Colthurst - Volunteer CoordinatorHi! I’m Rachel Colthurst and I’m the Peony End-of-Life Volunteer Coordinator at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.
I love people! Having worked previously in healthcare, education, and faith-based settings, I have come to understand the unique and individual worth to be found in every human being. At the same time, I have also discovered the privilege it is to accompany people when their sense of well-being is challenged during the difficult times life throws at us – whether through illness, trauma, loss, and not least, at the end of life itself. Ensuring that a person feels that they are not alone, that they are heard, seen, valued, understood and supported at these times is so important, and so it is fantastic to be working in collaboration with the Anne Robson Trust to train and equip volunteers to do this for those who are in the final days or hours of their lives, and their loved ones, in our hospital.
