The Fine City Chorus have generously decided to support the Anne Robson Trust as their nominated charity in 2021. We chatted to their spokesperson Adam Berry about why they chose us, and this is what he said …
“Towards the end of each year, the members of Fine City Chorus are invited to nominate a charity for the choir to support during the following year. The Secretary of the Norfolk & Norwich Nurses’ League, Ruth, who is married to one of our singers, heard that other members of the League – all retired nurses – had joined the Butterfly Volunteer team, with support from the Anne Robson Trust charity, within the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital. These amazing volunteers sit with patients who are nearing the end of their life, many of whom have no other visitors at all in their final days and hours.
Ruth thought it was a small charity that could benefit from our support, so her husband Peter put it forward for 2021 together with a little explanation of what the Trust does. I think the idea of end-of-life hospital visiting struck a chord with us, given the ravages of Covid-19, and that was the charity we chose, from a list of 14.
Ordinarily we would hold a fundraising concert or ‘sing-out’, and try to collect donations in the run-up to Christmas; hopefully something along those lines will be possible before 2021 is out, but in the meantime we hope that the Lean On Me ‘charity single’ will help to encourage people to donate to the Trust.”
Thank you to all of the talented members of the Fine City Chorus for your generous support.
